A Friend to A Few…A Foe to Many
I can’t remember the first time I met Irritability. I think it was during High School Physiology 30 years ago. The teacher was droning on and on….nothing
new….nothing exciting…and way too much about football. Irritability
flew in and sat right on me! She quickly
introduced me to Self-righteousness.
Self-righteousness and Irritability assured me I had a right to make
this teacher’s life miserable because he owed it to us to teach more—to teach
better!

Get a Pet, Stay Healthy
Get a Pet-Stay Healthy!
Pets love us unconditionally but they are more than
companions, owning a pet may improve your health. Here's what some experts
say:
* Blood pressure. Petting your dog or cat can lower
your BP, as well as your pets. One study of New York stockbrokers found that
those who adopted pets experienced better blood pressure and heart
rates.
* Physical activity. Owning a dog almost forces you
into taking several walks a day. The exercise can improve your health and bring
you into contact with other pet owners, relieving stress and
loneliness.
* Heart attack recovery. The odds for surviving a
heart attack seem to improve dramaticaly if you own a pet. Pet ownership
contributes to an increased one-year survival rate for people who have been
hospitalized for heart problems.
*Alzheimer's disease. Some studies suggest that
elderly people with Alzheimers have fewer outbreaks of anxiety with an animal
companion nearby. A pet can also help relax a patient's primary caregiver who's
also at risk of stress-related ailments.

Avoiding Excess Holiday Pounds
AVOIDING EXCESS HOLIDAY POUNDS
By Dr.
Darrin Snodgrass
Question: Every year I gain several pounds
over the Holidays. How can I avoid this?
Weight management is simply burning as many calories as
you take in. Or burn excess calories to lose weight.
However, this statement may not be true for those with a thyroid adrenal,
or gasroenteric condition.

Organic or non-organic
is the question. If you've ever stood in the grocery store asking yourself if
organic foods are really worth the increased price tag, you're not alone. And if
you've ever shrugged and thought, "How bad can non-organic really be?" while
putting an organic peach or plum back on the shelf, you may have made a big
mistake.
